About DSIB

We founded the Dietary Supplement Information Bureau™ (DSIB™) in 2001 to promote the responsible use of vitamins, minerals, herbs and specialty supplements. In June 2008 we became part of the Natural Products Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created to enhance and promote the integrity of natural products through quality, science and education. The following summarizes the mission, structure and activities of this unique coalition of scientific, education and industry groups:

	Committed to ensuring that consumers, the media, health professionals, and policymakers have the complete facts about dietary supplements
	Combining the resources of scientific authorities, educational organizations and industry to conduct a broad-based education campaign designed to reach men and women of all ages
	Formed in June 2001 by stakeholders representing all aspects of the dietary supplement industry: suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, publishing companies, and service and education organizations
	Created as a way for the dietary supplements industry to ensure that the intent of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) is met: by providing meaningful information about the health benefits and responsible use of dietary supplements to all Americans
	Using public opinion research and expert scientific and technical review to develop campaign messages and materials so that they are accurate, science-based, and understandable to the population at large
	Utilizing multiple information channels-the mass media, public service announcements, the Internet, and point-of-purchase materials - to implement a multi-year public education campaign
	Currently funded by the contributions of industry trade associations and individual companies with technical assistance and in-kind support provided by several scientific and educational organizations
