Did you know that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 4 men over the age of 50 are at risk of developing osteoporosis-related fractures or other bone diseases? The latest Surgeon General's report on bone health and osteoporosis urges men and women, of all ages, to take action for healthy bones. One of the most important ways to do that, according to the Surgeon General, is to make sure all individuals are getting the recommended daily values of calcium and vitamin D. Dr. Barbara Levine, from Cornell University agrees and further states that "because it's difficult to get enough of these nutrients from our diet, supplementation is essential." Proof of how important supplementation may be, it is estimated that 75% of Americans are calcium deficient.
